My name is Rev. Joe McLaughlin. I am blessed to be part of the celebration of your loved one’s life and legacy. I would like to introduce myself to you.

Ceremonial ministry, for me, is a continuation my spiritual calling as well as my desire to serve God’s people. I served for five years as an ordained priest in the Roman Catholic Tradition and was then led toward prayerful contemplation of God’s call toward marriage and family. Upon taking a leave of absence from the Tradition, I was blessed to meet my loving wife, Christina. Our marriage has been a walk down a joyful path blooming with growth, support, and fellowship. I am honored to continue my ministry by working with families to plan for their spiritual and ceremonial needs.

I believe that I am able to bless families by providing a ceremony that is both solemn and celebratory, matching the desires and wishes of family members with appropriate spiritual components to adequately express appreciation and sentiment toward the loved one passed. I empathize with families of the difficulties that can sometimes be present when planning a ceremony to let go of a loved one that is dear to their hearts. It is my desire to make this planning as effortless as possible, providing spiritual guidance and planning to ensure a peaceful memorial ceremony.

In this packet, you will find information regarding memorial service options and fee schedules, as well as other helpful details. Please do not hesitate to contact me by phone (609-351-4496) or email with any other questions you may have. I look forward to working with your family.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Joe McLaughlin

Types of Memorial Services

I am able to officiate over the following types of Christian memorial services: wake services, funeral liturgy ceremonies, and graveside committals. I would be happy to officiate at one, all, or a combination of these services.

Memorial Service Components

Most funeral liturgy or ceremonies include the following components:
  •  Introductory Rites
    • Greeting
    •  Sprinkling with Holy Water
    •  Opening Prayer
  •  Liturgy of the Word
    •  Scripture Reading
    • Words by Family or Friends
    •  General Intercessions
    •  The Lord’s Prayer
  •  Final Commendations
    •  Invitation to Prayer
    • Song of Farewell
    • Prayer of Commendation
  • If Graveside Committal is to follow, procession to place of committal occurs here.
I am flexible to help you to plan components that are in addition to the above outline or even very different from the above outline. It is important that the ceremony meet the needs of the family. Please let me know if you would like to see outlines or options for wake services or graveside committals.

Memorial Fees

***Fees are subject to change and are final when quoted to the family member and recorded in a contract and/or invoice given to the family member after services are secured.
The fee requested for a funeral liturgy ceremony is $200.00. This fee covers the following:
  • Planning in one to two meetings and/or as many email and phone contacts as needed to adequately plan for the service.
  • My planning time for the service.
  • Travel to and from the site of the service (up to 30 miles from my home).
  • Coordination with funeral director, if applicable.
Additional Fees:
  • For services more than thirty miles from my home, a charge of seventy-five cents per mile from my home to the service site and back to my home will be requested.
  • The addition of a second or third ceremony component (such as a wake service or a graveside committal) is $50.00 per additional component.
Fee Schedule
A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is requested no later than a week after our first planning meeting or conversation. This can be paid in the form of check, money order, or cash. Once this deposit is received and cleared, your ceremony date will be guaranteed and no other services will be planned for that date/time.  If another ceremony for the same date is requested before the deposit is paid, I will make every effort to contact you in order to secure your date sooner. The first request will be honored for a given date as long as the deposit is paid and cleared for that date.  The balance due for services will be due no later than the date of your memorial service. Payments should be mailed to my home or may be handed to me in person. Checks may be made payable to Joseph McLaughlin.
If reasonable attempts to contact the family have not been met with success and/or the fee schedule above has not been followed, another ceremony may be scheduled for the date/time that has been requested.
***Fees are subject to change and are final when quoted to the family member and recorded in a contract and/or invoice given to the family member after services are secured.
